The plaintiff claimed that this defect involving the water pump on their engines led up to consumer financial losses. This element of the engine caused coolant loss, leading to overheating and possible engine malfunction. According to the lawsuit, this could result in possible loss of power steering, leading to dangerous driving conditions and crashes.

Also, plaintiffs stated that they “were often forced to pay between $900 and $ 1,200” to replace and cover costs of the water pumps, as Volkswagen refuses to take care of the damages while under warranty.

If anyone affected wants to benefit from the class action settlement, they must file a claim by April 30, 2020. A valid claim can result in compensation, all based on the mileage and age of the vehicles affected and the damages occurred from the malfunctions.

Potential rewards from this settlement include a 10 year or 100,000-mile engine water pump replacement.

If you think you might be eligible for this settlement, you can look up your vehicle via your VIN on the settlement webpage. You must also provide proof of purchase, such as any receipts payments and possible repair records to make a valid claim.
