Claims Processing within Settlement Administration: The Art and Science

Each claim form we process is a forensic specimen. Claims have specific legal ramifications and variables that are accounted for in multiple layers of settlement administration. There's an art to claim form creation. This artistry is manifested within the formulation of claim forms from the information and documents handed to us from our clients. Some claim forms require very specific data entry and tabulation that could dictate secondary questions, additional documentation requirements, and potentially a recalculation of financial benefits. Other claim forms are specific to the industry, and carry an entire suite of best-practices with them. Our claims processing center is staffed with experts that have designed, curated, and refined claim forms for decades. They live and breathe this data entry as a vocation, and are aware of these sort of complicated nuances that our software platform provides for. The science of claim forms is a result of decades of processing millions of class member claim forms. Our team has seen it all, and our systems have been adjusted to handle literally any known nuance or complexity that a case can present.

The Claims Department handles all incoming submissions and completes any required follow up using the requirements found in the court documentation or our Standard Operating Procedures. They also handle data entry projects from clients that require the conversion of data from one source to another. Each incoming claim is called a Response. We receive responses of various types, and have specific labels and categorizations we assign to each. Response processing is comprised of two areas: First, data entry, which is responsible for timely and accurate entering of submissions into Simpluris’ proprietary case management software. Second, claims administration which handles escalated processing such as disputes, late submissions, deceased class members and members with SSN issues. All responses are reviewed by our internal quality assurance/audit team to ensure responses are entered accurately and in accordance to court orders. The work we do includes:
  • Verification of claimants documents
  • Mailing of acknowledgement of receipt letters
  • PDFs of claims submitted
  • Resolve any disputed information with counsel
  • Manage any variety of claim-related responses
  • Track all pertinent information per class member
  • Deficient claims rejections
  • Follow up with class members for resubmittals of deficient claims
